Organization Leadership: Hammerheads is a volunteer-run organization. While some coaches work for nominal payment, board members, position heads, and many coaches work purely as volunteers.

Mission Statement
The Hood Hammerheads Swim Team's mission is to provide ALL participants with an enjoyable experience while developing great sportsmanship, furthering competitive swimming skills, and cultivating special friendships and lifelong memories.
Structure
As part of the Frederick Summer Swim League, the Hammerheads Swim Team offers two levels to accommodate swimmers of varying abilities and goals. The competitive team is designed for swimmers 3-18 years old who can swim the length of the pool independently (or almost independently), are unafraid of the water, and want to refine their skills through friendly meets. The pre-team (Pups) serves as a foundational program for ages 3-7 years old, focusing on building technique, endurance, and confidence in the water to prepare swimmers to join the competitive team. Pre-team is not swim lessons. Together, these levels provide a pathway for growth and success in the sport of swimming.
