Preseason Practices: Our first preseason practices for competitive swimmers start this weekend!

• 5/23: 12-1 PM 11 yrs & under, 1-2 PM 12+ yrs
• 5/24: 12-1 PM 11 yrs & under, 1-2 PM 12+ yrs
• 5/25: 12-1 PM 11 yrs & under, 1-2 PM 12+ yrs
• 5/27: 8:15 PM-9:15 PM open to all competitive swimmers who are independent in the water
• 5/28: 8:15 PM-9:15 PM open to all competitive swimmers who are independent in the water

If your swimmer has swum with Hammerheads before, they should return to the lane that they last swam in. If they don’t remember, that’s OK. Have them check in with the folks with the clipboards at their first practice.

If your swimmer has not swum with Hammerheads before, have them check in with the folks with the clipboard. If they are able, please have them ready to answer some questions such as: Have you swum with a team before? Can you swim on your front? Can you swim on your back?

While the first practices are often a bit chaotic as we help swimmers find their lanes, things will soon seem much more settled. As a reminder, only competitive swimmers attend preseason practices. Placements for Pups will be 6/17 at 10:30-11:15.

Parents, we want our swimmers to develop a positive coaching relationship with their coaches and to get to know their teammates. Parents, siblings, friends, etc. should not approach the pool or the coaches during practice. This ensures that both the swimmers and the coaches can focus and make the best use of their time. If you have a concern during practice, please let me or another parent board member know. Coaches Preston and Lyndsey are also available to discuss concerns when swimmers are not in the water. While we love our Hammerheads’ parents, please take the practice time for your child as your time to get to know other parents, read a book, get some work done, get a coffee, take a walk, etc.

Officiating: Please consider attending a training to officiate. Right now, I only know of four potential officials for this summer. That will not be enough. We cannot run meets without officials. Training sessions are held on the following dates:

• May 26 7-9 (virtual)
• May 28 7-9 (virtual)
• June 9 7-9 (virtual)

Coach/Jr Coach/Coach in Training Meeting: If your child is a coach, junior coach, or coach in training, there is a meeting at 11 AM on 5/23. If your child cannot attend, they should check in with the head coaches or me at their first practice.

Payment: For anyone still needing to pay, cash or check can be brought to the first practice and given to one of the board members. Please label any payment clearly with your child’s name.
